Douglas Allen

Studying Sustainability and Community Development at The Evergreen State College, I came back in 2004 to Ann Arbor to integrate socially and ecologically-sustainable best-practices into Peter Allen and Associate’s already progressive approach to real estate development and management in Ann Arbor. I view business through the lens of what's good for the environment is good for the community, and what's good for the community is good for business. While not researching future projects, I manage and lease all of Peter Allen and Associate’s properties.

On behalf of Peter Allen and Associates I am an advocate for the sustainable development of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County. This includes attending meetings and standing on committees that seek to make Ann Arbor a genuinely unique place to live and work, one in which values its young people, its built and natural environment, and is a leader in Michigan and the world for reducing our carbon footprint, while having fun doing it! I currently sit on a committee mandated to create best practices for Land Planning and Housing in Washtenaw county which is through The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners. We are members of Think Local First, the Huron Valley Watershed Council, The Ecology Center, Rotary, and the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce.

In my free time I most enjoy spending time with kids, Zuvuya and Luda, going on bike rides on my Pedersen, writing music. I also love growing and eating local food and am a member of Slow Food Huron Valley, whose mission it is to create local food systems that are ecological and socially sustainable. I currently own a condo unit at the Sunward Cohousing community on the West side of Ann Arbor and I live in downtown Ann Arbor. Feel free to contact me about what you’re doing in the area to make Ann Arbor a better place to live and work at douglas@ptallen.com, or to inquire about properties we have available.
